Working for the Pacific Crest Trail Association in 2019, myself and a few great volunteers filled our backpacks with food for a few days, our cameras and all the tools to logout a Wilderness trail. The weather was fine and we enjoyed the pristine views that the Russian Wilderness has to offer. However, we were there to work. There were so many trees across the trail that, honestly, we didn’t make it very far at all. Our first night was spent at Statue Lake.

Statue Lake is small but mighty, with a unique wall of rock formations that resemble birds and animals surrounding the snow melt lake. If you ever get a chance, I highly recommend this little known gem.
